Simply Twine Planters

Design should passionately intertwine your definition of beauty and poise, with complete functionality.  My immediate love for all things vintage and rustic draws me to more natural features that I can use throughout each room in my home.  Though, my adoration for design goes farther beyond sprucing a lovely space.  I have an obsession with wrapping paper.  And those adorable brown Kraft paper bags that not only house perfect gifts but often turn into quick grab-n-go bags as I head off to work... pair those sacks with a fun-colored tissue paper, wrapped in twine and topped with some sort of chalkboard tag, and you've really revealed the joy of my heart.

So what does that have anything to do with design and beauty?  Well, those natural beauties truly represent my style and are incredibly multifunctional, hence the reason I stay stocked with them.

As my mind continues to unravel, I often discover that decorating should be simple and affordable.  With that said, I decided to examine areas in which we could reuse simple products within our home to turn them into design treasures.

So let's work on a project together and create a few Simply Twine Planters.

All I did was thoroughly clean and dry the food can before I jumped headfirst.  Let's be honest.  This project is simple and will only dominate 15 minutes of your time.  You should have no problems mastering this piece.

Start by adding a small amount of glue below the lip of the can and firmly press the twine against the glue.  Tightly wrap the twine around the can, from top to bottom, until you are satisfied with the final product.  This project is intended to be simple, so do not stress if your twine overlaps a bit.  Once you reach the bottom of the can, add another dab of glue to hold the final pieces of the twine in place.

Drop a handful or two of your decorative rocks into the bottom of the can to absorb water.

Pour in the potting soil leaving 1.5 inches of space from the top of the can.

Add your favorite plant and you have the cutest planter to showcase in your home/office!

Now comes the big obligation... keep that beauty alive!
